  40. Description:

  42.      Enigma is a 32 bit shareware registration and source code generation 
  43.      program for visual basic developers.
  44.  
  45.      It offers three unique levels (types) of shareware registration protection, 
  46.      from simple numeric codes up to nine characters in length, to complex alpha 
  47.      numeric codes near 20 characters in length.  Enigma stores information that 
  48.      you enter about each project.  When your customer information is entered, it
  49.      is encrypted with the project information to generate individual registration
  50.      codes that will only work for that program.  Level three is unique in that it
  51.      thwarts a bogus registration process before the actual registration 
  52.      information is entered.  It does this by reading an alpha numeric indicator 
  53.      called a "kickout" which is unique to each project.  If the kickout is wrong,
  54.      the registration is stopped.

  56.      You can write all your programs information to a file or the system registry
  57.      simply by clicking either one on the interface and entering a path.  
  58.  
  59.      Easily cripple and/or date limit your shareware.  
  60.  
  61.      Saves all important information about each project for future use.  It cannot 
  62.      be accidentally altered or destroyed.  You simply click a button and the 
  63.      information is ready to be pasted into a project.

  65.      Pastes all the registration information to your customers email response to 
  66.      avoid inadvertant errors in transfering information.

  70.      In order to accomodate those developers that wanted to try out the source
  71.      code and get a feel for it's use, version 3.1 will generate source code 
  72.      on level 1 using the project information you enter.  It will not generate 
  73.      unique registration codes or source code using levels 2 and 3 until it's 
  74.      registered.

  76.      Corrects the over length fields in Your Information and Registration 
  77.      Information.  Fixes bug that allows date limiting to be entered into source
  78.      without a number of days.

  80.     *This program was written and designed on Windows 95, It may or 
  81.      may not work an Windows NT or some other 32 bit Operating Systems.
  82.      If you use it on an Operating System other than Windows 95 I make 
  83.      no guarantees about performance.

  85.     **The screen resolution for development was 800 X 600 and was chosen
  86.       because it is the average setting by users.  The program should be
  87.       usuable with other settings, but if you notice some fonts difficult
  88.       to read, that is probably the reason.

  90. Installation:
  91.  
  92.     Simply unzip the contents into a temporary directory and run the setup.
  93.  
  94.     You must be running Windows 95.
  95.  
  96. Trouble Shooting:
  97.  
  98.     For the sake of download time and distribution size, some of the files
  99.     that may be necessary to run this software have been intentionally left
  100.     out of this zip.  This wasn't a haphazard decision, most systems will 
  101.     already have these files, or most of them.  Including them would double
  102.     the download time.  So for those of you that already have them, I am 
  103.     sure you appreciate the reduction in size, for those that don't the 
  104.     problem is easily resolved.

  120.     If you downloaded this from msn, you can get them in the "Shareware 
  121.     Tools Library".  If you downloaded this from winsite or some other 
  122.     archive, they too have these files zipped up, look for vb40032.zip or
  123.     something of that nature.  Just unzip them all into your Windows\System
  124.     directory.  The only exception may be the CTL3D32.dll, which may have 
  125.     to be placed in the Enigma directory.

  127.     Common Errors
  128.  
  129.     Below are some common errors that may occur during the installation 
  130.     process.  The install will be aborted, a screen will display with the 
  131.     cause of the error and all installed files will be removed.
  132.  
  133.     òError: Install cannot find the st4unst.00x file. 
  134.     òError: Install cannot find the st4unst.exe file. 
  135.  
  136.     òSolution: The above errors can be caused by either old runtime files 
  137.     or lack of them. In either case it is recommended that you download the 
  138.     most current files. 
  139.  
  140.     òError: Install cannot find vb40032.dll or one of the files listed above. 
  141.  
  142.     òSolution: This is caused by the runtime files not being on your system. 
  143.     Download the runtime.zip and follow the instructions in the Readme.txt
